In October 2009 compared with September 2009, the euro area industrial new orders index fell by 2.2%. In September 3 the index rose by 1.7%. In the EU27 new orders declined by 1.6% in October 2009, after an increase of 1.4% in September. Excluding ships, railway & aerospace equipment, for which changes tend to be more volatile, industrial new orders fell by 0.4% in the euro area and by 0.8% in the EU27. Read more

Environment: Main result of the Council
Environment ministers discussed the outcome and follow-up of the Copenhagen climate conference. They underlined that the EU strives for an international agreement that is legally binding for all parties and sufficiently ambitious to limit global warming to well below two degrees centigrade.
