StatoilHydro ASA is changing its name to Statoil ASA, and simultaneously adopting its new visual identity. The group took the opportunity to clarify its future ambitions and strategy. Better than expected Q3 for Statoil
Norwegian energy producer Statoil reports a third quarter 2009 net operating income of NOK 28.3 billion, compared to NOK 47.0 billion in the third quarter of 2008. This is better than expected by most analysts. Read more |

Single Euro Payment s Area (SEPA): cross-border direct debits now a reality
From 2 November, banks started to offer customers the possibility to make regular payments using the new SEPA Direct Debit scheme. This means that, for the first time, consumers and businesses will be able to make direct debit transactions between different countries in the euro area. Read more |

September 2009 - Euro area unemployment up to 9.7%. EU27 up to 9.2%
The euro area 1 (EA16) seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate 2 was 9.7% in September 2009, compared with 9.6% in August 3. It was 7.7% in September 2008. The EU27 1 unemployment rate was 9.2% in September 2009, compared with 9.1% in August 3. It was 7.1% in September 2008.
